How do you make your own shirt pins?

I want to make my own pins, like the pretty ones you would wear on your shirt to show off. I have no idea how to make them. I know you have to buy some kind of clay to shape your pin and put your design on it and then you need a certain kind of paint and a glaze for when you put it in a kiln. coulde someone tell me please? also, i do not have a kiln so is it acceptable to put it in your own oven? would it work? in art class we once made rattles with clay and used the paint and stuff like i described so this is what makes me think this is what you need.
