Does the size of the kiln matter for the project?

I would like to start making clay jewelry and need a kiln. Does the size matter? A family member has one that was used to make ceramics but no longer uses it. I was wondering if I could use that one or do I need a small one. I would also like to save the money from buying one and use the one available. Will it make a difference in the outcome of my jewelry?
