Open fire kiln. how do i do it. HELP:)?

I was wondering how to make an open fire kiln from my fire pit in my back yard. i need the simple steps of what to do, how to do it and how long to keep it in the fire and when to reduce the heat. I was wanting to do a summer project that involved me making a full size figure of my deceased dog sitting. What kind of clay should i use in an open fire? what inexpensive brand or can i get some from my back yard. how would i make the clay if so? once fully dried and ready to put in the fire how do i set it up? how long do i keep it in there. its a sitting dalmation so its about 3 feet high, this would be my first experience on an open fire kiln. please help thanks :)
