You can give it to him and stick a paper on it that says " It's perfectly imperfect..just like someone I know <3" and when you give the present apologize and tell him whatever you just told us...I'm sure he'll think it's sweet. If you want you can buy him another gift with it like a shirt or something that you know he'd like.
