Could i plug in a kiln that uses 120v into my apartment's outlet that is 110v?

i want to buy a kiln. my dad says that our apartment is 110 voltage. so i was wondering if a kiln that runs on 120v would work, or would it just start an electrical fire? haha. I'm not sure how all that works..I just want to buy something i can use.
